This summer, over 50 local high school and community college students were placed at our University Park Campus and Health Sciences Campus through the City of LA’s Hire LA’s Youth program. The program is a first-time job experience for many of the students, and often times their first time on a college campus. Students are working in an array of departments including information technology services at KUSC Radio, retail experience at the USC Bookstore, or in the laboratory for the Respiratory Therapy Department at Keck Hospital of USC. During the four-week program, students are also exposed to resources and workshops. This summer, USC’s Admissions Department conducted an informative presentation to the students on how to get into college and how to transfer from a junior college to a 4-year institution. Students also received a certificate in recognition of their work from our local Councilmember, Curren Price upon completion of the program.
