USC Office of Government Relations is the primary liaison between USC and elected representatives and public agencies. Members of the government relations teams, under the leadership of vice president Martha Escutia, meet regularly with officials representing the city and county of Los Angeles, representatives in state government, and leaders in Washington D.C. The USC Office of Government Relations is part of the division of University Relations.
The two campuses of USC are represented by the following elected officials:
The University Park Campus (UPC) is in Los Angeles City Council District 9, represented by Curren D. Price; it is in Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors District 2, represented by Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas.
The Health Sciences Campus (HSC) is in Los Angeles City Council District 14, represented by José Huizar; it is in Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors District 1, represented by Supervisor Hilda L. Solis.
The government relations team also regularly interfaces with The Mayor of the City of Los Angeles, Eric M. Garcetti, as well as a wide range of public agencies including the Los Angeles Dept. of Transportation (LADOT); public transit system L.A. Metro; Los Angeles Unified School Districts (LAUSD); the Los Angeles Economic Development Corporation, among many other departments.
